In transcritical CO2 systems, the gas cooler is the first component to reflect the challenges of hot ambient days: head pressure spikes rapidly, fans are forced to operate at increasingly higher speeds, and system regulation struggles to maintain stability. In compact layouts where space is restricted, operating noise also becomes a major operational constraint.
When heat dissipation is insufficient, high-pressure alarms become more frequent, compressor power consumption increases, and the system loses efficiency precisely when it must guarantee continuity and reliability. This leads to more stressful operating cycles, frequent corrective maintenance interventions, and narrower operating margins.
The RKS and RKL gas cooler series are engineered to tackle these real-world scenarios: high-efficiency heat exchangers made with K65 copper tubes that deliver high performance even at low fan speeds, a structure rated for operating pressures up to 120 bar, and two frame variants (short frame or long frame) to achieve the exact compromise needed between performance, compactness, efficiency, and quiet operation.

- High-pressure optimization: Thanks to the highly efficient heat transfer of the coil, featuring inner-grooved K65 copper tubes and aluminum fins, which ensures proper heat dissipation even under high loads, resulting in improved transcritical cycle efficiency.
- Guaranteed structural reliability: Thanks to the dedicated tube suspension system that avoids direct contact with the casing frame, mitigating vibrations and extending the heat exchanger’s operating life during continuous cycles.
- Reduced operating noise: Achieved via ErP-compliant external rotor axial fans, dynamically and statically balanced, with diameters ranging from 500 to 910 mm and sound pressure levels starting from 28 dB(A) at 10 m—ideal for installations near noise-sensitive areas.
- High-pressure resistance: Assured by the K65 copper alloy circuit and stainless steel headers, rated to operate up to PS 120 bar and TS –40 / +120 °C, ensuring durability and safety even under the most severe summer conditions.
- Uninterrupted airflow: Thanks to optimized fan shrouds that prevent air recirculation and improve airflow passage through the coil core, positively impacting heat transfer capacity and operational stability.
- System adaptability: Supporting both horizontal and vertical installation, two frame options (RKS short, RKL long), and 196 total models, allowing for accurate configuration based on required capacity, allowable noise limits, and available space.
