Small and medium-sized freezing tunnels, where products enter still warm and are loaded onto multi-level trolleys, require rapid and uniform cooling at every level. In these environments, limited available space and frequent door openings result in continuous air exchanges, while the initial heat load can vary significantly depending on the type of processing

When the airflow fails to reach all levels of the trolley or the cooling capacity cannot quickly absorb the heat introduced, the cycle is prolonged. This leads to faster frost accumulation, increased energy consumption, and a higher frequency of defrosting. Maintenance can also become an operational constraint when component access is not immediate.

To effectively address these challenges, Refteco developed the REV – RBV fast freezer air evaporators, a series designed to ensure powerful, stable ventilation, high heat exchange capacity and simplified maintenance. The combination of high-pressure fans and large-surface coils allows cold air to be distributed evenly across every level of the trolley, reducing cycle times and maintaining consistent product quality even during the most intense workloads.

Advantages of fast freezer air evaporators

  • Rapid and uniform cooling: the high-pressure axial fans (Ø450–500 mm) generate high static pressure and constant air flow, ensuring shorter cycle times and uniform freezing even with multi-tier trolleys.

  • Efficient heat exchange, featuring Ø12 mm internally grooved copper tubes coils and widely spaced fins for high cooling capacity, improved frost management and fewer defrost cycles during intensive use.
  • Long-term reliability: the tube suspension system eliminates direct contact with the frame, ensuring fewer vibrations, a reduced risk of micro-leaks and a longer coil life even under severe thermal shocks.

  • High power and energy efficiency in confined spaces: with 3 fans and cooling capacities from 11 to 38 kW (SC2), these units are ideal for compact tunnels or cold rooms with restrictive layouts. Furthermore, the AC/EC fans are protected by thermal contacts and equipped with anti-corrosion painted grids, ensuring low energy consumption and operational stability even under heavy loads.

  • Robust structure and simplified maintenance: RAL 9002 powder-coated galvanized steel casing, AISI 304 stainless steel screws, and a drip tray with a sealed welded stainless steel drain. Removable panels facilitate quick component access and faster servicing.

  • Total refrigerant flexibility: versions designed for HFC/HFO (REV) and for CO₂ (RBV) ensure compatibility with existing systems, retrofits and eco-friendly cooling plants.
